Entering Photo Contests: What I am Learning

Published on 13 September 2024 at 11:00

What I’ve come to understand from my recent experiences with photo contests is: If you’ve got photos you’re proud of, don’t hesitate to share them with the world. Submitting your images to contests or exhibitions is a great way to showcase your work and connect with others who share your passion. While winning or getting recognized is very rewarding, the real value lies in sharing your creativity and discovering where it can take you. Even if you’re unsure or nervous, remember that every submission is a step forward in your journey as a photographer. So, get out there, take the plunge, share your vision, and let your work be seen—you never know what opportunities or connections might come from it!!

With all that being said, I’m truly honoured and thankful to be recognized as one of the top 20 submissions in the recent PhotoHub360.com "Landscapes Around the World" photo contest.

About my image:

Cathedral Grove is a stunning old-growth forest on Vancouver Island, known for its giant Douglas fir and red cedar trees, some over 800 years old. The peaceful, green surroundings and towering trees make it feel like a natural cathedral. It’s a popular spot for anyone who wants to experience the beauty of these ancient giants and the wildlife that lives there.

Having grown up in Victoria B.C., I’ve always been amazed by the beauty of Cathedral Grove, and I hope my photo captures that sense of wonder and awe.
