I’m still buzzing with the shock and gratitude after my “Cocoa Powder” image was shortlisted by the panel of judges in my first photo contest as a professional! Now, my image of the Hotel Germain in downtown Montreal Quebec, which I’ve titled "Color Amongst Concrete," has been picked in a competition for a “Landscapes/Seascapes/Cityscapes” contest.
Little did I know that wandering the streets of Montreal, camera in hand, would lead me to The Hotel Germain. For me, it stood out against the sea of concrete because of its bold colors and sleek lines which provided a striking contrast to the surrounding urban landscape.
As I’ve mentioned before, it’s natural to wonder how your work measures up against others. So, receiving news that my image was chosen was both surprising and thrilling. Being recognized by people I don’t know only strengthens my commitment to improving every day.
